Tough Titties

“Tough Titties” manages to produce nothing short of creative and comedic genius through a sublime collection of sketches and performances. It’s a show that manages to pierce through the veneer of the patriarchy, expose the rot and the corrupting within, and never stop being hilarious, or provocative, while it’s at it. Through recurring segments like “A World Without Men” or the show’s cackle inducing take on day-time TV and Game Shows (You Can’t Ask That Pick Me Girls Edition or the Morning Show segment on the “You will have to do this every day for the rest of your life” women’s razor were particularly hilarious) “Tough Titties” performs the miraculous task of making you laugh from content that is, at its core, quite depressing!

Laughing at the patriarchy may well be an integral part of dismantling it, and Kristelle Zibara alongside Renae Valastro have written an insightful, keen-eyed knife set to pierce the very heart of the western world’s skewed, corrupt stance on class, race and gender. Bolstering these amazing sketches are some fantastic one-off segments from featured artists, all of whom performed an absolutely amazing, job at subverting and highlighting the issues facing women, gender nonconforming, and queer people every day with incredible comedic aptitude. In particular, Frankie Fearce’s segment on being a “real bloke” and Pamela PotsandPans, well, everything made for a tear jerkingly funny interlude of stand-up to create breaks within the sketches. No show I’ve seen in recent years has managed to make me laugh so damn hard at issues so damn depressing. “Tough Titties” is a call for change, a call for feminism, and a call for the end of prejudice. And if you don’t like it, then… y’know. Tough Titties.
